Curb-appeal is your home’s first Impression.

If you are trying to sell your home, curb-appeal is essential. Like first-impressions during a job interview or a date, the first thing buyers see has a significant impact on their decisions. Many home buyers won’t even bother to stop by for a showing if a home has poor curb-appeal.

Get a better perspective by taking photos.

Sunlight and the exterior lighting on your home at night will be very helpful in showing the state of your home’s curb-appeal. At various times of the day, take photos of the exterior of your home from the curb.  

You don’t need to be a professional photographer to take these photos. A camera phone will work great. Make sure to get all sides. Use these photos to help determine if there are any areas of your landscaping that look cluttered or like they could use a good cleaning.

Something feels “off” about your home’s curb-appeal. You can’t be sure what it is. This is very common because, as the homeowner, you see the exterior of your home every day.

Remember: It’s all in the details.

Do your own inspection, as if the home wasn’t yours. Take notes of problem areas, and areas you want to highlight. Is there an area of your landscaping that always seems to be cluttered? Even if this seems like an unsolvable problem—kids will be kids—take note of it. You might be inspired later on.

• The roof.
• Areas that need repair.
• Areas that need to be cleaned.
• The Mailbox.
• Foliage.
